Porcupine Tree Rumour Confirmed!

|June 19, 2002| Hi everyone.......It has been a while since I have posted as things here have been in "flux" and I was not able to give a complete picture as to what I was to be doing next. We had planned a "Wesfest" for this August, but over the last few months an opportunity has arisen that will postpone Wesfest for a while. As some of you May know...the band Porcupine Tree, lead by a great friend of mine, Steven Wilson, was signed to Lava/Atlantic and is due to release a new album this year. Steven and I began discussing over the last few months the possibility of me becoming a part of the Porcupine tree touring lineup to add guitar and vocals to the live show as the new album is heavier than the last ones. As many of you have heard these rumours, we have had to keep them quiet as when there is a major label involved - there are a number of hoops to jump through be before a decision like this can be finalized. Well, as of now I will meet the band in NYC in July and go through a few rehearsals... and if the combination works, I will be out on tour with them for the US dates and hopefully from then on.

So, Wesfest is postponed until "Further notice"!>

Check out the band's website at www.porcupinetree.com and come out to support the tour! The new album rocks and I am guesting on three tracks on the album.... one on guitar and three on vocals.

So, hope to see you on the road soon!!

Fly Boy Single

|April 5, 2002| The Fly Boy cd single is being released on April 15th. If you order the cd single from Dreamcatcher Records's web site, you'll receive a second cd free! The idea is to send the second one to regional or college radio stations in your area or to just give it to a friend to turn them on to the music. We'd love to take credit for this marketing idea, but it was actually suggested by Lucy over at Marillion headquarters - Thanks Lucy! As soon as the single is released, we'll put up a link on our Order page.

A Message From Wes

|February 19, 2002| Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know that the time has come for Fish and I to part ways. We had a great three years working together, but the situation has developed that Fish is involving himself in projects that I can not afford to be a part of. His concept of timing for the writing of his new album and his ideas of the one off gigs and conventions, would basically mean that I would have to be in Scotland on his farm at his beckon call for almost 7 months and this I can not do. I realize that many of you were looking forward to the new creative directions that we were heading in, but Fish was really not interested in having a collaboration that did not involve months of development, at his pace, at his studio, on his farm in Scotland, so as I have a life here that I can not give up for this kind of project, we will not be working together.

As to news around here......
April 2nd is the release date for the FlyBoy single in the UK. I am speaking to Dreamcatcher about developing plans to get airplay in different parts of the world - if someone has an "in" with radio in any Market, let us know and we will try to come up with a way to get the singles out to everyone. Mark Prator and I have formed a new touring "Unit" and will be doing our first gigs as the opener for Sister Hazel on March 2nd in Tallahasee Florida at Floyds - showtime 8:00pm. On March 3rd we'll be at USF in Tampa with Sister Hazel - showtime will be at 8:00pm and will be outdoors on the special event field if the weather is good - indoors at the Special event center if there is a chance of rain. The new touring Unit will include....Shawn Kyle on guitar and vocals, Shawn is an extremely talented singer and guitarist with tons of energy and a great Vibe, he is also a great songwriter and I am looking forward to the future in developing a more "dual" vocal style for the music and incorporating his great writing talents in to the music. Randy Mcmillan will join us on upright Bass, this again adds a new dimension to the music and as his talents lend themselves to very unique interpretations of the songs... I am really looking forward to the future of where our music and live show is heading. I am in the process of establishing a bit of a calendar on the site and Mark Mittentag and Myself will do our best to keep it updated. Since we have been rehearsing and putting together the live show, we should be doing some shows soon in addition to the Hazel gigs so watch this space!

We are thinking through Ideas for a new "Wesfest" in Florida, we are looking at two time periods - either May or August. August is "off season" down here so perhaps we could get a great rate at a beach front hotel and great deals on flights. Also if anyone travels from out of town, Disney and the theme parks are the least crowded this time of year and sometimes offer great deals. Please email me your ideas!

All for now...hope to see you soon!!....WES
